Celebrating Our Impact in 2025
At the Sienna for Seniors Foundation, we believe in the power of community to transform the lives of seniors across Canada. As a result of the generous donations we’ve received, the Foundation extending its impact by bringing more joy, connection and care to those who need it most through the following charities.
Concerts in CarePerformances by world-class musicians in senior living settings throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. Concerts provide a focal point for building bridges between elders, caregivers and loved ones, while engaging powerful emotions which can activate memory and improve mood for seniors in care who may be isolated and withdrawn.
Saskatoon Council of AgingExpansion of three successful and established programs:
- Hub Club provides a space for socializing, exercise, recreation, and educational activities for older adults
- Tech Buddy pairs seniors with youth for training sessions on technology and internet fraud safety
- Pen Pal connects students with older adults in sharing stories via letter writing that aids in combatting ageism
Seniors Outreach Services SocietyIts Silver Song Group is a participatory-singing and musical activity program for seniors who are aging at home/independently. The Group delivers 90-minute sessions that are led by professional musicians to provide structured and progressive-learning activities.
Ontario Tech University(3-year commitment) - The Sienna Senior Living Nursing Scholarships have already helped 70 students achieve their academic dreams and professional goals in the health-care leadership.
Windmill Microlending(4-year commitment) - Loans and wraparound support for internationally-trained professionals to assist with the costs of obtaining Canadian accreditation or training for healthcare professionals. Sienna also participates in a mentorship program with internationally-educated professionals.
Good Grief! Bereavement Healing ServicesThrough its You’re Not Alone support group, its six-week sessions support seniors suffering from the loss of a loved one, especially a lifelong partner, by addressing the health impacts, social isolation and day-to-day living challenges.
Temple Emanu-ElHarmony and Harvest is a program that brings joy and productivity through hands-on gardening activities in the summer, and a series of concerts (including sing-alongs) in the winter designed to imporove physical, cognitive and emotional well-being.
Desert Valley Hospice Society Stepping out of Grief provides a monthly gathering where participants can share stories, socialize, and engage in activities such as theater productions, music events, or physical activities, tailored to the group's mobility. It also aims to help participants re-enter the social aspects of life and to reconnect with others experiencing similar situations.
Disabled Independent Gardeners Association DIGA brings gardening to people with physical disabilities and endorses the many benefits gardening brings. It provides accessible community gardens for individuals, allowing them to plant, grow, and harvest their own food. Each gardener receives a specially adapted garden plot in one of seven community gardens, along with modified tools and personalized assistance from a volunteer.
Our Place Society55+ Club is a program designed to support homeless and low-income seniors who face social isolation and financial hardship. This initiative promotes healthy aging and meaningful social engagement by providing a welcoming space where underrepresented seniors can connect, learn, and thrive. The club meets twice a week at its downtown community centre.
