Private Long-Term Care

In British Columbia, you have the option of paying privately for long-term care. Doing this ensures that you will get the room type of your choice at the care community you want to stay in.

Because there are no government waiting lists, it is often possible to move in immediately, and there are no government-specified eligibility criteria for you to meet. Everything is between you and your chosen care community, and there is no need to contact a local health authority or third party.

And if you’re waiting for government-subsidized care, that’s fine too. Staying in a private-pay room will not affect your position on the government-subsided long-term care waiting list. But of course, you’re welcome to stay with us for as long as you want. We’re happy to help you with anything you may need.

Rates for private-pay rooms are subject to market rates. Your health insurance and veterans’ affairs may be able to cover some of the costs.
