Dining and Recreation

We strive to create a signature dining and recreational experience centred around you. Our chefs pride themselves on preparing delicious menus that change daily, and our recreation team believes in designing award-winning programming that reflects your choices and interests.

In the dining room, you’ll be greeted by servers who will get to know you and your preferences. You can order what you like off the menu, choosing from a number of complete meals or from à la carte options.

Every menu includes healthy options, identified by our healthy choice symbol. These options meet specific criteria for fat, sodium and preparation methods. We would be happy to welcome your guests for a meal, and will work with you to design a custom menu for special occasions. Many of our retirement residences also have a bistro, wine bar or café, where you can join new friends for refreshments throughout the day, and speaking of your day…

Do you like to spend your afternoons reading? Do you have a talent for teaching others? Would you like to get back to volunteering? We’re here to reconnect you to past hobbies and to help you fulfill lifelong interests and dreams. We also look forward to introducing you to some things you've never considered before.

Each day, you will have the option of participating in a range of free activities, such as learning seminars, on-site visiting performers, fitness classes, and wellness programs. Or, you can join an organized outing with transportation — from live performances, to local museums, to shopping trips and seasonal celebrations in the community.

In addition, we’re proud to offer Sienna Signature Services, which can only be found at Sienna Senior Living retirement residences. These programs offer exciting and innovative opportunities for residents to pursue new learning opportunities, get involved, remain active (physically, socially, and mentally), and give back to the local community.

Want a techno boost? Cyber-Seniors is a community partnership program, where high school students from the local area teach residents how to use technology. The program is tailored to your needs, interests, and comfort level, and can go over everything from navigating the desktop, finding your childhood home on Google Maps, to using YouTube, Social Media, email and more! Now you’ll be able to stay in touch with family and friends around the world, do a video call with your children and grandchildren, and explore new interests online.

To learn more about the program and see what people think of it, check out some of the stories below!

Cyber Seniors at Cedarvale Lodge Retirement Residence has really taken off. There’s been a video about the program, as well as a story. The person responsible for the program was even nominated for an award. Island Park Retirement Residence has also been inventive with their program, to see what it’s like, click here!

Do you want to be steadier on your feet? Created in partnership with the Sheridan Centre for Elder Research at Sheridan College in Oakville, Live It Fit Every day is a 12-week, flexible exercise program that is tailored to your interests and abilities. With measurement tools that evaluate its benefits, you will be able track your progress in reaching your goals.

Ready to learn something new? Offered in collaboration with the Centre for Elder Research at Sheridan College, Creating Communities of Learning is a unique learning experience. Practicum students from universities and colleges host virtual classrooms in many of our residences across Canada. The focus is on learning and education, not computer skills, so it doesn’t matter if you’ve never used a computer before. By creating a national family of participants from all of our residences, connected via online classrooms, learning becomes a uniquely social experience that breaks the bounds of geography.
