Helping to prepare future PSWs, HCAs, CCAs for a rewarding career
The Sienna Senior Living Dino Chiesa Scholarship supports team members who wish to become a Personal Support Worker (PSW), Health Care Aid (HCA) or Continuing Care Assistant (CCA). This scholarship was created by a gift of $50,000 from Sienna in recognition of Mr. Chiesa’s service and leadership to our organization and to the broader seniors’ living sector.
About Dino Chiesa
Dino Chiesa was a member of Sienna’s Board of Directors for twelve years, ultimately serving as Chair of the Board until the time of his retirement in 2022. Dino’s extensive experience, wisdom and leadership over his tenure shaped the organization, and positioned it well in the fast-growing Canadian seniors’ living sector. Mr. Chiesa’s legacy to healthcare and seniors’ living goes well beyond Sienna. He is a former director of Dynacare Laboratories Inc., former member of the Board of Trustees of Sunrise Senior Living Real Estate Investment Trust, and formerly served on the boards of several hospitals, including Humber River Hospital.
About the Scholarship
This work is critical to the continuum of care in the Canadian healthcare sector, and they are vital members of the Sienna Senior Living team. It is a profession that, while challenging at times, offers rewarding and meaningful personal connections with the individuals being supported.
Financial costs to pursue a career in this field can be a barrier to pursuing this passion for some. The Sienna Senior Living Dino Chiesa Scholarship is awarded annually and can help to alleviate those costs.
Each scholarship is valued at $5,000.
Eligibility and Application Process
To be eligible to receive The Sienna Senior Living Dino Chiesa Scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be a full-time or part-time team member of Sienna Senior Living
- Show proof of enrolment in an accredited Canadian PSW/HCA/CCA certificate program
- Submit the required application and supporting material by the posted deadline
- Scholarship recipients must be willing to provide a photo and allow for promotion internally and externally.
